Life sometimes flows like a film strip, sometimes it revolves like a scene. Today, we are joined by a name who has witnessed these scenes, lived a life in front of and behind the camera, the master cinematographer Hakan Körezli. Together with him, we will embark on an enchanting journey into the magical world of cinema. Welcome, join us in this captivating conversation
- HELLO, THANK YOU FOR JOINING US TODAY. COULD YOU PLEASE TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
HAKAN KÖREZLİ: Hello, you're welcome. Thank you. I was born in 1974 in Berlin and grew up in Izmir. My career in journalism and television began in Izmir, but I moved to Istanbul in 1996 and embarked on a different path. I have been working in the TV series and film industry in Istanbul for about 17-18 years now.
- WHAT DOES THE SERIES 'ARKA SOKAKLAR' MEAN TO YOU AND WHAT WAS THE EXPERIENCE LIKE?
HAKAN KÖREZLİ: 'Arka Sokaklar' is an example of success in itself. It's a well-written, well-structured, and well-shot work. This series was a unique experience for me in the industry. Shooting with three cameras offered an unusual pace for me, and this experience provided me with an advantage in my future projects.
- WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT 'ARKA SOKAKLAR' SHOOTING WITH DUBBING AND THE FAST SHOOTING PROCESS?
HAKAN KÖREZLİ: Yes, 'Arka Sokaklar' was a series that shot with dubbing, and the shooting process was really fast. Constantly changing locations and setting up scenes could be quite challenging. However, the producer's team keeping things steady and working with a single cameraman made things a bit easier.
- SO, WHY DID YOU ACCEPT THE PROJECT 'EYVAH RAMAZAN BEY'?
HAKAN KÖREZLİ: I was attracted to the 'Eyvah Ramazan Bey' project because it was entirely in sitcom format and shot on a set. I hadn't worked on such a project before and wanted to experience something new.
- COULD YOU EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CAMERA OPERATING AND CINEMATOGRAPHY?
HAKAN KÖREZLİ: The difference between camera operating and cinematography is a progression that requires responsibility and experience. As you gain experience in camera operating, you become more suitable for the position of cinematographer.
- FINALLY, IS THERE SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE IN THE FILM INDUSTRY?
HAKAN KÖREZLİ: In the film industry, I would most like to see an increase in the number of people who genuinely know and love cinema. Creating an environment where cinema is discussed and valued is important.
- THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME FOR THIS INTERVIEW.
HAKAN KÖREZLİ: Thank you. Take care of yourself.
Thank you for sharing your time with us. This valuable conversation was not just an interview but also an artistic journey. Wishing you to continue shining in the industry in the days ahead. Until our next meeting, farewell and take care!
